12 May 2008 - Teko & Tohunga
What would you do on a scorching hot weekend in May? BBQ, day at the beach? - Not us, 3 teams of Scouts strapped rucksacks on their backs and set off on the Teko & Tohunga expeditions.
The day started bright and early with kit check, those nicely packed bags were emptied out for the assesors to check what was in there. Safety kit, clothing, boots, first aid kits everything was scored. 15 mins later after a safety brief the teams were ready to start.
After the kit check it all had to be repacked
Each team had previously prepared their routes for the day, so everyone set off in different directions. The Tohunga teams had a set route from Grassington over Yarnbury to Hebden then to Burnsall while the Teko teams had to gain a number of points by visiting several checpoints of their choice.
The whole event which had over 30 teams entered was controlled by Paul, Mike and Clive who had a team of over 60 adults at their disposal to make sure everything was safe but fun.

Paul & Gary from suffering from too much sun controling the event from a secret location.
After a hard days walking the teams arrived on the campsite and had to set up tents, cook meals, clean up and prepare the routes for the next day.

Is it Leeds Fest? - No its a very messy looking campsite.
After a good nights sleep it was time to cook breakfast, pack up the tents, clean the sites and set off for another full day walking. This time the routes followed the river to Appletreewick then over Trollers Gill to finish at Grimwith Reservoir where all the parents were waiting.
The score sheets are here. All our teams completed the expeditions so well done to all
